Offered for your consideration is a vintage double-edge safety razor manufactured c.1940. There is no brand name on the razor or box, but it’s an obvious copy of a Gillette open-comb model of years past. I assume it was USA-made, but, again, no way to be sure. What I can tell is that it’s an economical but sturdy razor that was likely intended for hotel bathrooms, or sold in bus station washrooms, etc. It does not appear to have ever been used, but I can’t be certain of that. So, please have a look at the large photos I’ve taken and read the remaining description to decide if this interesting generic safety razor should join your collection. This safety razor is in clean, very good condition. It measures 3⅛” at longest with 1⅝” wide head and has good weight. The top of the head is brass while the comb bottom and handle are crafted from gold-enameled base metal, likely also brass. There is a bit of tarnish on the head and some enamel wear to the handle, as pictured. Plus, I don’t see any water or soap marks, etc. leading me to believe this razor was never used; certainly no sustained use. Overall, it presents quite well. In addition, I’m including a package of DUREX double-edge blades for free (they accompanied the razor when I bought it at an antique show). I haven’t opened the individually-wrapped blades inside the little orange box so I hope they’re still useful, not rusty, etc.?
As pictured and described, this vintage double-edge safety razor with bonus blade package is offered at a competitive price.
